**CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:      Easter people, we have been saved by the Risen Christ, the life-giving Vine.
People:     We abide in Love, the life-giving Vine.

Leader:      We are branches of the Vine—sustained, nurtured, and pruned by Love.
People:     We have no life apart from Love, the life-giving Vine.

Leader:      When we make our home in the Vine, and the Vine makes a home in us, we

                   bear the fruit of Love.

People:     We produce the fruit of Love, the life-giving Vine.

Leader:      Easter people, how shall we bear the fruit of Love, the life-giving Vine?

All:            We will love and learn to love as we rest, play, work, and build community

with God and one another.  AMEN.

**HYMN #2220 (TFWS).................................................................................. “WE ARE GOD’S PEOPLE”

CALL TO CONFESSION

If anyone sins, we have someone who pleads with the Father on our behalf—Jesus

Christ, the righteous one. And Christ himself is the means by which our sins are

forgiven, and not our sins only, but also the sins of the whole world. (I John 2:1-2)

Let us confess our sins before God and one another…

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON)
Merciful God, you know when we are struggling to love; you know when we are too
judgmental to show mercy. Remind us again that perfect love casts out such fears.
Surround us and strengthen us with your perfect love, even in the face of our
imperfections. Imbue us with a love so strong, with such growth toward perfection,
that we may cast aside our pride and embrace the power of godly, agape love.  AMEN.

SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

WORDS OF PARDON AND ASSURANCE

Leader:      Christ is the vine.  We are his branches.  If we abide in Christ, Christ’s

words will abide in us.  Ask for whatever you wish in Christ’s name and it

will be granted.  In the name of Christ, you who seek forgiveness are

                  forgiven!

People:     In the name of Christ, you who seek forgiveness are forgiven!  AMEN.

RESPONSE #322 (UMH)........................................... “UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE” (REFRAIN)
Up from the grave he arose, with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;

He arose a victor from the dark domain, and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.

He arose!  He arose!  Hallelujah!  Christ arose!

PRAYER CONCERNS/PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD'S PRAYER (IN UNISON)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our

trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

AMEN.

RESPONSE #2215 (TFWS)....................................................................................... “CARES CHORUS”

I cast all my cares upon you, I lay all of my burdens down at your feet, and anytime that

I don't know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you.

**HYMN #664 (UMH)................................................................ “SENT FORTH BY GOD’S BLESSING”

**BENEDICTION

Branches of the Vine, go from this place blessed by God’s love to work in love with your family,

your friends, your neighbors, and strangers who will become friends, bearing the fruit of the life-

giving Vine, Jesus Christ, as you cultivate an abundant life in him wherever you go. AMEN!
