GREETING AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE......................................... “EVER FAITHFUL, EVER NEAR”1............... BY FRANKLIN RITTER

INTROIT............................................... “BLESS HIS HOLY NAME”1.............................. CHANCEL CHOIR

OPENING

TIME OF CENTERING PRAYER

RESPONSE #2164 (TFWS)...................................................................................................... “SANCTUARY”
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true.  With
thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

**CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:      Beloved, in a world that sometimes criticizes women who lead in the

workplace and at the same time demeans women who stay home to tend

their families, God’s uncommon wisdom calls to us:

People:     Recognize the leadership of women!

Leader:      In a world where some churches still deny and repress the gifts, graces,

and callings of women in ministry, God’s uncommon wisdom calls to us:

People:     Nurture the leadership of women!

Leader:      In boardrooms, family meetings, town councils, pulpits, and church

committees, women lead us with their voices, their actions, their wisdom,

and their strength. And so, God’s uncommon wisdom calls to us:

People:     Respect the leadership of women!

Leader:      For too long, women who lead among us have been unnamed,

underappreciated, and even exploited as free labor. May we listen and act,

then, as God’s uncommon wisdom calls to us:

All:            Support the leadership of women! Thanks be to God.  AMEN.

**HYMN #145 (UMH)............................................................................................. “MORNING HAS BROKEN”

CALL TO CONFESSION

We all make mistakes, many of them. We hurt ourselves, we hurt others, we hurt God with

our words and deeds, with our silence and inaction. Let us confess to God our sins, trusting

in the One who blesses us with mercy…

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON)

O God, we live our lives as best we can—dealing with difficult relationships and

situations, putting failures and disappointments behind us, and moving into each

new day with as much energy, goodwill, and optimism as we can muster. But here,

right now, we seldom have the right answers, we seldom seek your uncommon wisdom

in our lives, we just move blindly ahead. Forgive us for not asking for your insight.

Fill us with your wisdom, that we may live lives of goodness and peace. AMEN.

SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

WORDS OF PARDON AND ASSURANCE

Leader:      When we come before God in humility and honesty, God draws near to

us with grace and renewed blessings.

People:     Thanks be to God, we are forgiven!  AMEN.

**RESPONSE #2119 (TFWS)............................................................. “WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS”

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is

love. There is comfort in life’s darkest hour; there is light and life, there is help and

power in the Spirit, in the Spirit of the Lord.

SERMON..................... “A GOOD LIFE PART 3: A GOOD COMMUNITY” ............. REV. ERIC WARNER

**RESPONSE #433 (UMH)........................................................ “ALL WHO LOVE AND SERVE YOUR CITY”

PRAYER CONCERNS/PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD'S PRAYER (IN UNISON)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our

trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

AMEN.

RESPONSE #2215 (TFWS)................................................................................................. “CARES CHORUS”

I cast all my cares upon you, I lay all of my burdens down at your feet, and anytime
