**HYMN #327 (UMH)......................................................................... “CROWN HIM WITH MANY CROWNS”

CALL TO CONFESSION

While there are many with power in our world - power to hurt us, power to hire or

fire us, power to control us - only God has the power to forgive us and make us

new people.  Let us confess how, yes, we fear the powers of this world but

overcome our fears through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ…

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON)

Lord, teach us your truth for we are a people who are attracted to the

error of our ways.  We make bad choices.  We find ourselves in

predicaments that make us sigh and groan.  We have brought upon

ourselves many of the hardships and disasters that have come our way.

We are not honest and truthful in all situations.  We even try to hide

from ourselves when we realize that we are responsible for our own

mistakes.  O Lord, do not depart from us.  Forgive us, we pray, for the

many sins, wrongdoings, shortcomings, and lies.  Fill us with your grace

and blot out our transgressions.  Give us genuine love for each other, for

all our neighbors, especially those who have been difficult to love.  We

thank you for the assurance of your forgiveness through your Son, Jesus

Christ.  Hear us, we pray, in our Lord Jesus’ name.  AMEN.

SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

WORDS OF PARDON AND ASSURANCE

Leader:      Shout for joy, children of God! The God who was and is and is to

come loves you, forgives you, and renews you!

People:     The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ rests upon us all. In the name

of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!  Glory to God!  AMEN.
