OPENING
TIME OF CENTERING PRAYER
**RESPONSE #2071 (TFWS)................................................................. “JESUS,
NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES”
Jesus, name above all names, beautiful Savior, glorious Lord. Emmanuel, God is with
us, blessed Redeemer, living Word.
Leader: When we pass through the cleansing waters
of baptism and the troubled
waters of our lives, God
declares:
People: I will be with you.
Leader: When we go through the fires that refine
us and the fires that threaten our
livelihoods, God declares:
People: I will be with you.
Leader: Even when we travel to the far corners of
the earth or down into the depths
of our souls, God declares:
People: I will be with you.
Leader: So come, let us worship God whose love
never fails, whose presence never
leaves, whose mercies never
end.
All: Praise be to God who, in the form
of Jesus, waded into the waters of
baptism to prove God’s solidarity with us! AMEN.
You are invited to come forward to receive a shell and a sprinkling of water as act of
remembering of your baptism.
**HYMN #611 (UMH).............................................................. “CHILD
OF BLESSING, CHILD OF PROMISE”
Eternal Father, at the baptism of Jesus you revealed him to be your Son and anointed
him with the Holy Spirit. Keep all who are born of water and the Spirit faithful to their
calling as your people, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. AMEN.
Emmanuel, Emmanuel, his name is called Emmanuel. God with us, revealed in us, his
name is called Emmanuel.
SERMON............................................. “BAPTIZED IN LOVE TO LOVE”................... REV. ERIC WARNER
**RESPONSE #189 (UMH)........................................................................................... “FAIREST LORD JESUS”
PRAYER CONCERNS/PASTORAL PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
AMEN.
I cast all my cares upon you, I lay all of my burdens down at your feet, and anytime that
I don't know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you.
CALL TO OFFERING
**DOXOLOGY #95 (UMH)..................................... “PRAISE
GOD, FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW”
Praise God, from whom
all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all
creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye
heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son,
and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
**OFFERTORY PRAYER
**HYMN #2051 (TFWS).................................................... “I WAS THERE TO HEAR YOUR BORNING CRY”
May the Triune God, whose presence surrounds you always and everywhere, bless you with
the deep assurance that you are never alone. In the waters, in the fires, in the far corners of the
world, God is with us. Thanks be to God. AMEN.
Bind us together, Lord, bind us together with cords
that cannot be broken.
Bind us together, Lord, bind us together, bind us
together in love.
