OPENING

TIME OF CENTERING PRAYER

RESPONSE #2164 (TFWS)............................................................................................. SANCTUARY”
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true.  With thanksgiving,
I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

**CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:      Beloved, when sorrow and hardship abound and events across an ocean and

down the block shake our resolve and make us question what good the

Good News is doing, God calls to us to…

People:     Open our hearts to Jesus who is the truth and the life.

Leader:      When fear and misinformation infiltrate our relationships, and we don’t

know who to trust or how to do the next right thing, God calls to us to…
People:     Open our hearts to Jesus who is the truth and the life.

Leader:      When joy overflows, and we witness the fruit of grace all around us,

transforming our lives and our communities into places of connection and

flourishing, God calls to us to…

People:     Open our hearts to Jesus who is the truth and the life.

Leader:      May this time of worship be for each of us a time to listen to God’s call to

open our hearts and accept the divine invitation to say yes to Jesus.

All:            God, we open our hearts to Jesus, knowing you hold us securely in the

palm of your hands that we might have the courage to live in community

with you and one another.  AMEN.

**HYMN #2147 (TFWS)......................................... “THERE ARE SOME THINGS I MAY NOT KNOW”

CALL TO CONFESSION

We sometimes let fears control us and doubt becomes the way of life for us.  If we but look,

we will see our lives, and our world, cradled in God's loving hands.  Let us confess our lack

of faith, even as we trust the One who has promised to listen to our words, as well as our

hearts.  Join me as we confess our sins together, saying…

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON)

Holy God, hear our prayer.  There is pain and there is sorrow, there are broken

relationships and broken hearts.  Sometimes we are the cause of those things. We have

caused pain.  We have broken the relationship.  Sometimes we are simply a part of

them – we are the ones who suffer, we are the ones who are broken.  So we ask for your

forgiveness, and we ask for your healing.  Beyond that, we ask that you would help us

turn from our former selves to the persons you have created us to be, full of mercy and

grace and love.  Through Christ, who is our example, we pray.  AMEN.

SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

WORDS OF PARDON AND ASSURANCE

Leader:      With calming words, with a peaceful Spirit, with overflowing love and

hope, our God forgives us and fills us with faith.

People:     Our God affirms for us who we are - those whose brokenness is made

whole, whose sin is forgiven, whose lives overflow with faith.  Thanks

                  be to God!  AMEN.

in the Spirit, in the Spirit of the Lord.
