GREETING AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRELUDE.............................. “HIS
EYE IS ON THE SPARROW”1................ ARR.
BY JOEL RANEY
OPENING
TIME OF CENTERING PRAYER
Leader: Welcome! Welcome to the baggage we carry, the joys we
share, the griefs
we bear, and the worries we
hold.
People: Come! Let us worship!
Leader: The
voice of God is calling us to come with all that we are and all that we
carry
to worship.
People: Come!
Let us worship!
Leader: God calls us to gather, to receive grace
in our gathering, and to reorient us
again to the ways of God.
People: Come! Let us worship!
Leader: So, come, members of the family of God! Bring all that you are to be
molded by grace, refocused
toward Love, and woven together as
community in Christ.
All: Come! Let us worship! Thanks be to God. AMEN.
**HYMN #277 (UMH).................................................................... “TELL
ME THE STORIES OF JESUS”
Do we really want God to dwell within us, or are we only willing to 'rent out' space for a brief
visit? Our actions, our words, our silence, our fears all show the presence, or absence, of God
in our lives. Let us empty ourselves of all which burdens us, and welcome the One who lives
with us forever. Please join me as we pray…
Have mercy on us, O God, according to your steadfast love. For we know our sins which
are always in front of our eyes. We have not loved you as deeply as our own heartbeat.
We have failed to care for your body and for the whole of creation. Forgive us. According
to your abundant mercy, blot out our transgressions and cleanse us. Restore to us the joy
of your salvation and sustain in us a willing spirit. Free us to know joy and gladness and
to live
our days in praise. AMEN.
SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION
Leader: Do you remember? At one time, you were without Christ; you were
the
stranger, the outsider, and
the alien. But now, in Christ, you have
been
brought home, living in God's
household of hope and peace.
People: God's covenant with us is everlasting;
God's steadfast love is forever;
God's forgiveness makes us new
and whole. Thanks be to God.
AMEN.
**RESPONSE #2119 (TFWS)................................................... “WHERE
THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS”
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is love.
There is comfort in life’s darkest hour; there is light and life, there is help and power in
the Spirit, in the Spirit of the
Lord.
SERMON......................... “COME
AWAY…AND REST A WHILE” ............... REV.

**RESPONSE #472 (UMH)................................................................. “NEAR
TO THE HEART OF GOD”
PRAYER CONCERNS/PASTORAL PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN.
I cast all my cares upon you, I lay all of my burdens down at your feet, and anytime that I
don't
know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you.
