OPENING

TIME OF CENTERING PRAYER

RESPONSE #2164 (TFWS)...................................................................................................... “SANCTUARY”

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true.  With

thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

**CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:      Children of God, take a deep breath.  Breathe in the goodness of

                  God’s blessings all around you.

People:     God’s blessings are enough for all that we need.

Leader:      Think of all the things our society calls abundance.  Ever-growing

bank accounts, possessions galore, status and notoriety—what are

these things compared to God’s abundance?

People:     God’s blessings are enough for all that we need.

Leader:      God’s blessings encourage us to help the poor, the downtrodden,

and those whose labor is not enough to thrive.

People:     God’s blessings are enough for all that we need.

Leader:      How, then, will you offer yourself up to God?  Will you be like the

                  Pharisees or the widow?

All:            We will give as people who trust in God’s provision, because God’s

blessings are more than enough for all that we need.  AMEN!

**HYMN #87 (UMH).......................................................................................... “WHAT GIFT CAN WE BRING”

CALL TO CONFESSION

We bring our flawed lives to God, not so much to be made perfect, but to be

whole. Let us confess our sins to God, trusting the One who builds joy from

our despair…

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON)

God of bountiful blessings: our self-focus causes us to imagine how poor

we are.  We are convinced we don't have enough:

     enough honor,

     enough respect,

     enough recognition,

     enough to live on.

And so, in our poverty, we cannot trust you, we cannot see the emptiness

of others, we cannot help but cling to more than we need.  Forgive us,

God of us all.  Tell us we can be more loving; whisper to us of how we

can be more compassionate; teach us how we can be more generous;

sing to us of how we can serve others - all in the name of Jesus Christ,

our Lord and Savior.  AMEN.

SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

WORDS OF PARDON AND ASSURANCE

Leader:      The good news is that we are made whole; not by our efforts, not

by any work we have done, not by any word of ours.

People:     Out of the riches of grace, God pours forgiveness into our lives,

giving us all we need in Jesus Christ, so we might live in hope

and joy.  Thanks be to God!  We are forgiven!  AMEN.

NEW TESTAMENT LESSON, HEBREWS 9:24-28 (PAGE 224)

People:  Thanks be to God!

**RESPONSE #2119 (TFWS)............................................................. “WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS”

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace; where the Spirit of the Lord

is, there is love. There is comfort in life’s darkest hour; there is light and life,

there is help and power in the Spirit, in the Spirit of the Lord.

SERMON......................................... “WE HAVE ENOUGH TO GIVE” ....................... REV. ERIC WARNER

**RESPONSE #557 (UMH)......................................................................... “BLEST BE THE TIE THAT BINDS”

PRAYER CONCERNS/PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD'S PRAYER (IN UNISON)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily

bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass

against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  AMEN.

RESPONSE #2215 (TFWS)................................................................................................. “CARES CHORUS”

I cast all my cares upon you, I lay all of my burdens down at your feet,

and anytime that I don't know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you.
